The 1st ‘Coaching for Coaches’ (Jumps) session hosted by the DAN will take place on:
Sunday 25th March 2012 at Mount St Marys College, Spinkhill, S21 3YL, 10.00am – 1.00pm
Lead Coaches are :
Pole Vault: Jon Baker (Chesterfield & District AC)
LJ/TJ: Joe McColgan (Amber Valley & Erewash AC)
HJ: Colin Barnes (Charnwood AC)
As well as the jumps facilities, sports pavilion, changing and tolilet facilities will be available on the day.
All coaches and athletes are welcome to attend.

Derby AC athletes won 8 individual gold medals and 4 team competitions at the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire Cross Country Championships held at Markeaton Park, Derby on saturday 7th January 2012.

Derby are organising a Christmas party, to be held on Thursday 22nd December @ the Bridge Inn pub, Chester Green between 8:30pm and 10pm. The cost is £15.95 for four courses. A deposit of £5 is to be paid to Gary Fallon by Tuesday 13th December.

The Track and field season is almost over and Derby ACs Hugo Milner has fought his way to the top of the Power of 10 UK rankings for the U13boys 1500m, with a phenomenel time of 4m28.08s.
Not only is this the fastest 1500m by a U13 this year, but it has been pointed out to me by Mr Birkin that it`s the fastest recorded in the UK for 27years!!

On September 25th there will be Combined Events Open Meeting @ Moorways. The event will cover quad kids for under 11's and Pentathlon for Under 13,15 & 17 (if enough entries) and is a great way of introducing mulitevents and getting last minute season PB's.

At the Derby AC open meeting in April, the organisers were faced with a bit of a dilemma about whether the meeting would be able to go ahead or not, this was all down to some resurfacing work being carried out on the back straight of the track, but after some deliberation it was decided that the event would go ahead, as the only race it would affect was the 1500 meters and this could be substituted by the Mile instead and it turned out to be a great idea, as not only were we treated to a lovely evening but there were some fast times recorded as well, out of the many runners who took part, Derby AC members have been rewarded at the moment with high 2011 UK rankings in the Mile on the Power of 10 website.
They are - Veleska 5th; Dominic 5th; Gary 3rd; Amy 1st.
