Gunn & Bishop Impress at National XC
Saturday, 06 March 2010 15:34

Luke Gunn and Tom Bishop had a great day's racing, with both finishing in the top 10 in the country, in the Senior and Junior Men's races respectively. Gunn has come back into great racing shape after racing sparsely due to an achilles niggle, which has now cleared up. He now looks forward to the Inter Counties in Birmingham and  the North of England 12 Stage team, before a stint of altitude training in Mammoth Lakes, California. The Senior Men's team failed to score, disappointing given the strength of the 12 stage team. A few members were not able to run due to the after effects of food poisoning whilst warm weather training in Malaga the week before the National. Ian Stevens continued his racing consistency, having ran all of the North Midlands, counties, national xc relays and 6 stage relays this season!

(Gunn finished 8th in Senior Men and Bishop 9th in Junior Men)

Tom Bishop, currently studying and training at Leeds University with elite triathletes seems to be benefiting from his new setup, as he ran an aggressive race to finish 9th in the Junior Men's race. Josh Bull hit the top 50 in the U17 men's race, valiant given that he was one of the casualties from food poisoning. There were also top 100 placings for Alex Pilcher (38th) in the Senior Men's race, Niall Maguire (99th) in the U17 Men, Hugo Milner (99th) in the U13 Boys and Veleska Wills (70th) in the U15 girls.
